*c-lab 8.0 Project X Hyoungsan Jun Background Voice Hyoungsan Jun, who has been creating works based on an interest in non-musical sounds, focused on the acoustic characteristics of a chorus. His new work, Background Voice, highlighted the chorus's significance as the back vocals support the main vocalist. The subtle sounds that go unheard unless one concentrates, noises regarded as disturbing, and occasional vibrations remind the importance of listening. Only when listening carefully do the little sounds come together and fill the gallery. Hyoungsan Jun, through this work, says that voices of supporting sounds, not only the main ones, can also be energy that changes the flow when united. [Artist Introduction] JUN has expanded the concept of art to include all sounds, including noise, driven by his interest in 'non-musical sound.' He challenges current phenomena that focus solely on purpose and function, advocating for the embrace of diversity through sounds often dismissed as useless. By exploring the existential dimensions of various sounds, he seeks to broaden perceptions of existence within mainstream systems and bridge gaps created by binary thinking.
